PANGAIA  is an active contributor to the circular economy. With its two new sustainable materials, PLNTFIBER™ and FRUTFIBER™, the company again proves its commitment to becoming “Earth positive ”.

It takes 10,000 liters of water to produce 1Kg of cotton. According to the World Counts, we grow over 27 million tons of cotton globally every year. Can you calculate how much water it’s consuming? It’s not just the water consumption; cotton cultivation utilizes fertilizers and pesticides that damage soil health and biodiversity. Luckily, PANGAIA has a plan.

The brand is launching a new collection featuring its two new sustainable materials. PANGAIA has a history of creating innovative sustainability solutions. Earlier in April this year, the brand launched PANGAIA AIR INK to reduce carbon in the air by converting pollutant particles into usable ink.

PANGAIA Sustainable Materials: PLNTFIBER™

The first material in the new collection is PLNTFIBER™ that uses fast-growing plants sourced through sustainable practices. The plant fibers include Himalayan nettle, bamboo, and eucalyptus lyocell immersed in seaweed. Himalayan nettle and bamboo are non-food crops that do not require fertilizers, pesticides, or extensive irrigation to grow.

The Himalayan nettle can reduce soil erosions and help local biodiversity. Eucalyptus and seaweed are natural resources that are not hard on the soil or the environment. PANGAIA reportedly garners its seaweed from Iceland after every four years, allowing regeneration between each harvest.

PANGAIA Sustainable Materials: FRUTFIBER™

The second sustainable material in the upcoming collection uses FRUTFIBER™ that comes from Bamboo lyocell blended with pineapple and banana leaf fibers, which are usually considered agricultural waste. They end up in landfills or burned that only adds to the growing pollution. The bamboo lyocell used in the process goes through PANGAIA’s closed-loop production that includes solvents to conserve water and energy.

The growth of bamboo helps with carbon absorption, naturally aiding in reducing climate change. So, not only, the new fabrics are super comfy and eye-catching, they are actively reducing the impact of the fashion industry on the environment.

The design of the new collection

The new collection includes a range of comfortable clothing, including hoodies, shorts, sweatpants, and t-shirts in vibrant colors  (green, pink, and yellow). The collection will feature solid colors with minimalistic design.

Whether you are looking for something new to wear on your morning walks or want new sweatpants for lazy evenings, PANGAIA’s new collection will have you covered. You’ll find FRUTFIBER™ in shorts, t-shirts, and dresses, and PLNTFIBER™ in track pants, hoodies, shorts. The new collection will be available on 08.05.21. You can sign up for early access here.
