James Cameron, the legendary director of iconic films such as “Titanic” and “Avatar,” recently revealed that he has already shot two sequels “Avatar 3” and “Avatar 4” – to avoid any aging issues with his characters. Following the success of Avatar 2 achieving $1Billion box office earnings in 1 week, this forward-thinking move proves yet again that Cameron is ahead of the curve when it comes to filmmaking. And great news for fans, “Avatar 5” is also in the pipeline.
Shooting 2 Movies in 1
He is shooting ‘Avatar 3’ and ‘4’ back-to-back with a majority of the original cast. Production of the two sequels is expected to take nine months to complete. This will prevent any problems that could arise from aging of the characters between production of each sequel. It also ensures continuity between the two films as they will be shot during the same period of time.
Avatar and CGI Technology
To make sure that the characters in Avatar 3 and 4 remained the same age throughout the entire film, James Cameron and the production team decided to use CGI technology. This CGI technology allowed for the characters to remain consistent without any aging issues.
The production team also used CGI to create realistic characters and landscapes in the film. With the use of this advanced technology, they were able to create a world that was both believable and visually stunning.
The production has now moved to New Zealand for filming, where they must adhere to the country’s strict quarantine period for all new arrivals. This meant a delay of two weeks before the team could start shooting, but New Zealand boasts one of the lowest rates of coronavirus in the world, making it an ideal location.
When Does Avatar 3 , 4, 5 Come Out?
James Cameron and the Avatar production are taking safety precautions such as regular testing and contact tracing to make sure everyone remains healthy and safe. With this in mind, the team is making good progress and is scheduled to wrap up production soon. The 3rd movie is expected to be released in 2024. He said, “They exist. These stories exist. We know exactly what we’re doing. We know what these movies are gonna be. We just have to go through the process of getting them done. So, you know ideally two years from now, ‘Avatar 3‘ comes out. Ideally maybe 3 years after that 4 comes out and then ideally maybe a couple of years after that 5 comes out.”
